The woodwinds begin this arrangement with a a low, warm sounding introduction - almost a little unusual sound for winds. The setting uses many ranges of the instrumetns to create continually moving parts, interesting new harmonies, and plenty of room for expressive playing. Lots of phrasing and dynamics make this a good teaching piece for winds, and the music works with just the top 6 parts played, but the bass does add an extra dimension to the colors.
