This is a favorite setting recorded by both professional and student players on various solo instruments. This new revised arrangement has all the short color runs, and modern harmonic textures appreciated by good woodwind ensembles. This setting will work with only the top 4 parts played with the piano accompaniment. However, the more parts you can cover, the more enjoyable the full sound becomes. Extra transposed parts are included, so you can use almost any grouping of flutes, oboes, and clarinets to make this arrangement work. Having some of the lower voices (e.g., bassoon, cello, bas clarinet, or even a light trombone (sax subst)) adds even more to the colors and full effect. The goal is to make this work for many combinations of instruments.
