This new solo from Bob Walters (srr for the USAF Band and White House Music Groups (Ret)) contains two different solo parts. One for the medium instrumentalist, and a completely second solo for the more advanced player. The second part, even shows both solos on the same page, so a player who can handle some of the more advanced figures, can jump from one part to the other, and create a solo at the level of the individual. A new concept? Yes. But a concept to permit the player to create the level of music that they can perform. This solo is so beautiful, and is full of rich harmonies, counter lines, and "string things." Play this with plenty of passion, expression, and beauty. This will probably come off your shelf every year. This hymn - in terms of being a favorite, is considered one of the top 5 hymns of all time.
