The five parts are for a traditional woodwind quintet - but substitute parts are included so flute, clarinets, saxes, and even cello can be used instead of the traditional quintet. This is not the usual setting of "Were You There?," but is a very musical approach with new ideas, colors, and rhythms that make this sound unique, pleasant, and worthy of the mood of the text of this spiritual.
