A new melody based on "O the Deep Deep Love of Jesus," surrounds this beautiful setting of the familiar and passionate hymn. This melody serves as material for the introduction and the ending. As the hymn tune is played by the violin, the harmonies in the piano are constantly changing and there are some very nice harmonic surprises. About half way through the piece there is a delightful change from the major to minor. Then the material from the beginning of the piece returns to round out the arrangement and bring about a rich and satisfying ending.
