"O Come O Come Emmanuel", according to arranger Paul Edwards, is a melody that is rich with possibilities. One of the possibilities explored in this "tasty" new arrangement is that of using a well conceived ostinado, in the piano. The arranger uses this ostinado to bring out the loveliness of this haunting tune, played by the soloist, and to provide good counterpoint as well. The harmonies and colors that result and the creative use of the ostinado and non-ostinado sections are delightful. This solo has a classy contemporary feeling without compromising the integrity of this time honored melody. There is short cadenza, which may be omitted, if you so desire. A delight for the audience and performers alike.
