A solo in the Bassoon (or Bass Clarinet) begins this beautiful arrangement. The solo instrument then plays another line as the horn enters with the melody. These two instruments then play the background for the clarinet as it plays the melody. In like manner, the flute is given the melody, which happens just before a key change. The melody is then played in the new key with the same beautiful characteristic harmonies and lines that fill the rest of the arrangement. There is another key change and a return to material similar to the beginning, which sets up a beautifully satisfying ending.
