Bob Burroughs is at his very best with this new setting of the old spiritual. By moving the melody throughout the instruments, as well as creating beautiful counterpoint in the non-melody parts, he produces an engrossing work. Perfectly balanced dynamic contrasts, gorgeous moving harmonies, and an entreating ebb & flow work together to transport the listener to the place of Christ's sacrifice. This is an excellent selection for Lent, Good Friday, or communion.
