This well-crafted Christmas/Advent piece may well become a favorite of the season. Beautiful harmonies, inspiring melodic and rhythmic movement along with exuberant dynamics are the hallmarks of this fine piece. For a wonderful effect, a key change and lowered dynamic level are added as an element of surprise that then bursts into the spirited ending. The rhythmic interplay is important and fun to perform throughout this piece. Note the tubas pedals give a sense of mixing duple and triple meter in the performance even though it is written in an easy to read and perform format.
